Education for wetlands

The education is very important to the social and economic development and the environment is critical in this process. The role of education for the protection of wetlands is vital as it promote the public understanding and stewardship with the goal to improve the water quality, habitat protection, restoration and conservation of wetlands. Environmental Education encourages change in behavior that will create sustainable future in terms of environmental integrity, economic viability and healthy wetland for the present and future generations. The session of Education for Wetlands will focus on

(i) Reorienting current education and awareness programmes;
(ii) Education and awareness programmes for the protection of wetlands;
(iii) Community and non-formal education programmes on wetlands;
(iv) Education training and awareness programmes for professionals, technical and teachers on wetlands;
(v) Success stories and community participation on wetland conservation.
